Transitioning to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Is your e-commerce store or website ready for Google Analytics 4?
As you may have heard, Google is migrating to their new Google Analytics 4 (GA4) platform effective July 1, 2023. Upon this date, Standard Universal Analytics properties will stop working, while Universal Analytics 360 properties will sunset on July 1, 2024. Google's developed a step by step guide so you know what your site needs. If you're not using Analytics, we can help get you set up. We recommend doing so sooner than later. If you are using analytics and are all set, Google has provided a step by step guide so that you can migrate and customize at your own pace, or use the Setup Assistant for a more automated experience.
Benefits of GA4 according to Google include:
- Collects both website and app data to better understand the customer journey
- Uses event-based data instead of session-based
- Includes privacy controls such as cookie less measurement, and behavioral and conversion modeling
- Predictive capabilities offer guidance without complex models
- Direct integrations to media platforms help drive actions on your website or app
There are a couple of options to take advantage of this new offering:
Option 1: If you don't currently have analytics installed, get started by installing Google Analytics on your current site.
Option 2: If you have Universal Analytics set up, you need to upgrade your site.
Option 3: Work with a webmaster like L2 Digital Marketing in Los Angeles to install Google Analytics 4 to a website builder platform or CMS
Option 4: Do nothing and keep guessing what is working and isn't (not recommended). :)
Are you using analytics on your website and how is the data generated helping your business? Would love to hear from you?
